September 28th, 2008 found the GoonSquad breathing heavily into a microphone in the thriving metropolis of West Acton Massachusetts. Frequent site contributor Killer joins the podcast for the first time and other highlights include train whistle sound effects, Zamboni music, Bruins-related bantering and Chinese arithmetic. Brace yourselves.
It’s been a long time, but we’re definitely back. For what that’s worth. We have one more podcast in the can that will be released next week and then more in the pipeline that we’ll be recording between Ottawa and Boston via Skype. Stay tuned, and use this handy player to check out any of the previous 4 GoonBlog: The Podcasts that you may have missed.

GoonBlog: The Podcast. Episode #4
February 10th, 2007 was a sunny Saturday in Boston – until the fetid, odorous cloud that is the GoonSquad turned on a microphone and ruined everything. Highlights from Podcast #4 include guest appearances from Brandy and the infamous MOL, echoes of Tilsonburg, Colton Orr’s first goal and the worst attempted catchphrase in human history.
20 minutes and 4 Red Stripes later it was all over, and the birds once again began to sing. If you enjoy our podcast, please spread the word. And don’t forget to send us your feedback, criticism and suggestions. Stay Goony, Ponyboy!
GoonBlog: The Podcast. Episode #3
Recorded January 19th 2007 in the North End of Boston MA, the third podcast in the series features discussion about Sidney Crosby, the Washington Capitols, MySpace, our brand new hockey tshirts, a deluge of silly audio clips thrown in for funny measure, and our homie – little Philly Kessel.
This is some funny stuff, people. It’s a little on the long side, but we had a 2 month lull to cover. My audio editing abilities are creeping towards “a little better”, and you have to stay with us the full 23 minutes just to hear all the fart sounds and SlapShot quotes. If you’re on the market for a ridiculous hockey podcast, check us out.
GoonBlog: The Podcast. Episode #2
We decided to up the ante a little bit with GoonBlog’s second Podcast. We moved the recording studio from my bedroom in Boston to Chris’ couch in Acton. We incorporated some theme music for the first time. He didn’t drink at all. I drank less. And we ran about 3 minutes longer than our debut. It’s more informative and funnier, but we’ve got to work on not saying “uh” a whole heck of lot more.
If you enjoy what we’re trying to do, and even if you don’t, send an email to podcast at goonblog.com and leave a little something for our mailbox segment. Listen to Episode #2, subscribe to the RSS feed or even add it to your iTunes subscriptions – all by clicking the link below.

GoonBlog: The Podcast and You!
There’s nothing wrong with getting mentioned on MSNBC. Nothing at all. I’ve always maintained that helping take the NHL digital, followed closely by sleeping with a woman, is one of my aspirations in life – and I am glad more and more people are taking notice. Kudos again to Mike Gardner for designing our logo, which is apparently the only thing keeping us in business according to most major media outlets. We’ll take it.
This Saturday will see the recording of our second GoonBlog: The Podcast, which should be live on the site by Sunday evening. Topics this week will include Georges Laraque, the Battle of Alberta, Cam Jannsen and a special behind the scenes look at the all-new Lowell Devils’ opening night (both Chris and I will be in attendance in the stands and backstage). Why were the fans in Columbus chanting Jody Shelley’s name last night? What’s up with the Hurricanes’ bad start? You’ll just have to listen in.
And while we’re on the subject, we’ve set up a new email address for Podcast related comments, questions and contributions: podcast at goonblog.com. Do you have a question for the GoonSquad? Do you want to submit a little listener mail? Is erectile dysfunction getting you down? We’re in Boston, so how is the Trailer Park Boys Movie, Canadians? Did we say something that deeply offended you? Please let us know so we can have a good on-air chuckle over all of it. We welcome any and all contributions. Talk with/at you this weekend. We’re just getting warmed up.
GoonBlog: The Podcast. Episode #1
The day was not without its hiccups. Most of them were Molson induced, admittedly. But the first Goonblog Podcast is ready for listening, and Chris and I hope you enjoy it. Listen to it right here in the embedded player, or click the iTunes link below to download new episodes to your computer or iPod as they’re released.

Now, a few more notes on the day. The podcast you’ll hear is about half of what we recorded. After a shitshow at the Banknorth, including altercations, too much beer and a soul-sucking hockey game – I lost my goddamn digital voice recorder. So what you hear is what you get for this episode. I never said I was Walter Winchell, and I think our amateurish segues and hamhanded editing could have turned out a lot worse. See what you think, gooners.

The Podcast Cometh
This Saturday your beloved GoonSquad will be returning to fighting form and attending the Bruins/Ranger game at the Garden. To say that we’re excited about hockey’s return would be an understatement. To say I’m excited about having Jalepno poppers at Sports Grill beforehand would be a gross understatement. Very gross. Regardless, Colton Orr will be returning to Beantown for the first time since his release, likely looking to tattoo Wade Brookbank. Hopefully Chris won’t run into Orr at the bar and fire chicken wing spittle into his face while pledging his eternal devotion this time. So Chris, Hammer the Younger and yours truly will be lacing up our livers and hitting North Station with a vengance around 2pm, with digital voice recorder in tow. Digital voice recorder, you ask?
To further mark this joyous occasion, we’ll be recording our very first GoonBlog Podcast before, during and after the game. It may take a while to get the hang of it, and even longer to figure out the editing learning curve, but by this time next week it’ll be live for your enjoyment/morbid fascination. You can expect mutual disresepect, at least 10 SlapShot references, extreme off-topic veering and – we hope – a heck of a lot of funny. If you want statistics, nobody beats HockeyFights.com. For humorous, R-rated, booze-soaked commentary and morbid entertainment value, we hope the GoonBlog Podcast manages to get a hand on you, pull a shirt over your shoulderpads and then pummel the crap out of you. You know, make an impression.
State of the Blog
The season is almost here boys. I have been putting on the foil, and I am ready to go. The Ref and I got pints last night, and came up with some beauty ideas for the site eh?
We are adding a countdown to opening night if we can figure out how the hell to add it.
We talked about doing a Podcast a month. The Ref comes from a nerdery so he got a little nerdy when explaining the popularity of podcasts, but it sounded like a cool idea.
We’d like to do some tough guy interviews. Here’s the tricky part. I have the ability to get close to some tough guys that I think would be willing to sit down with us and talk. Having said that, there are some guys I’d love to talk with that I have no idea how to contact. Anyone that could help steer us in the right direction, that would be cool for us and the site.
Finally. The T shirt update. These are coming. The Ref promised me last night they’d be ready for opening night. When we get them going, we’ll let you know. Hope everyone is having a great summer so far. Luckily, winter is just around the corner!
