Wow who woke up the big bad Bruins. I was watching Lucic in HD drop the gloves in the first five minutes of the game and had to immediately call Chris and give him the detial (he and HOL were present in the Garden for the tilt), I thought it was a pretty good bout and Lucic came out on top. That was soon followed up by Stewart throwing his weight around and pounding people into the boards.
Chris and I will be attending Thursday nights throwdown in the Garden, any other Goons out there, you can be assured we will be at Sully Tap before the game so please join us for a cold one.
Reviewing Reviews
I caught myself watching the Bruins game last night and they looked decent. 52 seconds left in the 2nd and what seemed like a great save by Thomas, game continues and period ends, right……wrong. After further review (when the boys are already in the locker room) GOAL, bring them back out and play the remaining 52 seconds like it never happened.
If they are going to review they need to adapt some NFL views and stop the damn game. What if either Boston or Buffalo had scored in that 52 seconds – is that goal removed or if someone got hurt during that would they magically heal because it never happened? I was very happy to see the gloves drop in the game and to see our beloved B’s take the shootout. They need to do something about review. Time to fire up the grill and cooler and watch the Great American Race
WTF
How does our NHL team have a 4-1 lead in the 3rd period and lose. My god do the Bruins blow
Where is Hal Gill? Please make a trade for Hal so we can blame him
As much as i love hockey it is really tough to watch the B’s, much like our friends in Indy watching their team go down in flames on Sunday night
GO PATS
Fight Night in Russia
This is the craziest fight i have ever seen. Look at those Rooskis go. TRUE GOONBLOG GOLD!

Oh Canada…
This is for you Dave: Heres to Clara Huges, Cindy Klassen and Kristina Groves for bring home medals on the ICE. Yes I was the person watching on Saturday night with my friend Smirnoff. Hats off to the Candian Women for the gold!
Alive. Well. Hammering.
For those of you who thought "The Hammer" was dead and buried fear not, I was just on holiday. I don’t know if it is watching hockey at 9 AM, or the bigger ice surface, but I have to sheepishly admit that (first I am not from Belgium) I like the Euro style hockey. Fast action but not a lot of hitting – we need to find a happy meduim. Maybe make the AHL rinks bigger or show those Euro fruits how to drop the gloves.
By the way #25 still stinks and I don’t like him.
Hear Ye Hockey Amendments
Article [I.]
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
For example: Hockey is a religion and no one will tell us different! I am free to tell Hal Gill "You Suck". When you bring the boys on the ice, it starts as a peaceable.
Article [II.]
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
The coach regulates the militia and it is often necessary for those on the ice to bear arms and drop gloves, and no one will infringe on the right of a goon to pull a 5 minute major.
Critics of these amendments are free to cross the border to the great white north. Where hockey is also relatively popular.
All Hail Number 8! Neely gets Inducted
"Neely went through, not around." – Scott Burnside
It is time that we all pay our respects to one of the greatest hard-nosed hockey players EVAH! Watching Cam on the ice, and never knowing if he was going to score – or just beat the tar out of any tough guy going on the other team – was one of the things that made him great. He wore the Black and Gold with pride.
Some random statistics from BostonBruins.com:
-
Was traded to Boston on his 21st birthday, June 6, 1986. I’ll bet that was a party.
-
Became only the second Bruin in club history to record consecutive 50-goal seasons.
-
A hit taken on his thigh in game six of the 1991 Prince of Wales Conference Championship series in Pittsburgh caused him to develop a condition known as myositis ossificans, where a portion of the muscle in his thigh turned to bone.
-
Set a club record for playoff goals in a year with 16, second in the league in that category (1991).
-
Scored 694 career points, ending with his retirement in 1996.
Please feel free to share your personal memories of Cam’s career. Jeepers – I’m talking like he’s dead or something. Tonight the Hall of Fame, and not the mortuary, gets a very worthy addition.
Today’s Thought
"To act crazy is really not crazy."
Crazy people don’t think they are crazy. That honor is still reserved for Bettman on both counts.
