I was all set to update you on stuff I missed this week, which was a lot by the way, when I opened my email and found this pile of shit. I really don’t even know what to say. Maybe if we stopped shielding kids from everything bad in the world they might actually have coping skills like the rest of us. Instead we tell kids that when a man stands up for another man because they believe in the same cause, he’s going to kill someone and must be stopped. The scary thing is, this guy’s kid could be running this country some day and he’ll have no idea what it’s like to fight to defend himself. Dennis Bonvie, we here at Goonblog love what you do, and we know why you do it. Thanks for the memories!

If you've spent any time on Reddit or hockey Twitter lately, you've probably seen the question pop up: are enforcers still a thing in hockey? It's usually asked by someone who just watched Matt Rempe try to dismantle a human being, or maybe someone who tuned out around 2011 and is just getting back into the sport. The short answer is yes. The long answer is yes, but they don't look like Bob Probert anymore.
The game has changed, the rules have tightened, and the days of the three-minute-per...
2026-05-17When the mic cut out during O Canada at Game 5, the Buffalo crowd stepped up and sang every word. As a Canadian, I can tell you exactly how that felt to watch.

This post is a tribute to the Boston Bruins fourth line legacy, specifically the Merlot Line - the trio of Gregory Campbell, Shawn Thornton, and Daniel Paille who defined gritty, grinding hockey at TD Garden from 2010 to 2014. Written from the perspective of a lifelong Bruins fan who spotted a Gregory Campbell Bruins sweater in the crowd during the 2025-26 season, it covers the Merlot Line Boston Bruins history, the heavyweight fight record of Shawn Thornton Bruins fans still talk about, and th...

From blue-line brawls to full-blown melees, this season was a gritty masterclass in one of the sport of hockey’s greatest differentiators: dropping the gloves.
The 2024–25 NHL season didn’t just deliver highlight-reel goals and breakout rookies. It delivered pugilistic carnage. And for fans who remember the golden era of enforcers, the message was clear- the fight game is far from dead.
Fists, Fury and a Full 82
There were 297 regular-season fights and two more in the playoffs, ma...

100% correct!!!
I think i need to go sucker punch that writer as he walks down the street with now idea of what the fuck is going to hit him!
Cause he sure as hell don’t know what he’s fricking writing about that clueless fucker!
It’s a part of the GAME!
Todd, I agree with you. I bet you the guy has never played any sport in his life. Never mind hockey.
Have the Bruins even had their first game yet? I also want to say I hate these new tight fitting shirts. They looks so gay, i cannot stand it.
I am sure he is one of those “it’s OK if you don’t win” type of panty wearing Hillary following whimps.
I would bet he got his ass kicked when he was little (and by that i mean last week)
Brings all new meaning too, “You’d better get a man around the house before that boy ends up with a dick in his mouth”
I tuned into the Rangers vs. Islanders game hoping to see at least a few fights considering the last pre-season game they had was a throw down festival. Wouldn’t you know it, there wasn’t one fight. A 2-1 snooze fest with a blind guy scoring the winning goal. Let’s go boys, we need some fisticuffs!
Unless the NHL lets the fists fly this game and league will be gone in a couple years. These games are like watching paint dry. I also was catching zzzzz’s during the battle of NY last night. I think Vinny Mac should start a new pro pucks league and bring back the goon/police man!!!!
what the fuck!
did anybody see boulerice’s cross-check against kesler during the PHL/VAN game?

TSN’s Bob McKenzie:
“It can easily be argued this incident is far worse than teammate Steve Downie’s 20-gamer for lowering the boom on Ottawa’s Dean McAmmond. Downie didn’t use his stick; McAmmond had at least touched the puck in the moments before the hit.
If Boulerice doesn’t get at least 20 games, something’s not right with this picture.
And if the NHL really wanted to make a statement, to send a message that there’s no place in the game for a play like that, or a player who would do that, it would really tag Boulerice and make an example of him. Take your pick – 40, 60, 80, life.
But 20 should be the floor on this one because what Boulerice did was so utterly senseless and pointless and not part of the game. At least it shouldn’t be”
Stefan – the link didn’t work but I found this one:

Wholly shit, he almost decapitated Keslar. I would agree with you that he needs to be gone at least 20 games if not more. He hit the poor prick right in the throat. When are these meatheads gonna learn to drop the stick and gloves and have at it. As soon as they introduce the stick and use it as a weapon they are just asking to get bounced.
Hey Killer, I tried both of those links. (yours and Stefans)and neither one worked.
Sorry about that Red Thunder, something must be up with the link. Go to YouTube and in the search window type in:
boulerice kesler hockey
You will then be able to click on the link.
Thanx Killer, I got it to come up this time….. And what A fucken loser. He should be sentenced to twenty minutes in the vancouver locker room. Then suspended for at least the season. Charged with assault with A deadly weapon. Then cross checked in the face with A goalie stick. (I volunteer)
