Christmas in July

You think of July 1, and you think. Scott Gomez would be good….I’d take Daniel Briere. Hey, what about Chris Drury? He’d look good in the Black and Gold. Knowing the team wants to get grittier, and knowing who can provide that sort of grit is another thing. Plus knowing the Bruins have a penchant for saying one thing, and doing another, you never expect a signing as good as this! You know you hope and dream for it, but when it happens to you….there really are no words. This is easily my favorite Bruins signing in many moons. In Thornton they get a true heavyweight, and a guy that can play a little hockey to boot. Finally they do something right.

Oh, as an aside. I like the Fernandez move too. I am not all that wild about Manny as a player. I think he’s a bit over rated, but, I love the fact they didn’t give up much to improve a big hole. I am hearing Murray and Toivonen to Edmonton for Raffi Torres. I think giving up on Toivonen now is a huge mistake, but focus on the positives here people, Shawn Thornton is a Bruin! I am as excited as a little girl.

Trevor Gillies is also unrestricted. Let’s get Boston to sign him too.

Love the Shawn Thornton signing but they need more. I thought Chris Neil was a Free Agent and would definately add some grit to the B’s but did’nt see his name on the list.

Selfishly, I love the Thornton deal from a bruiser perspective but realistically….the guy can’t put the puck in the net. How many more no goal scores can the B’s sign?

I agree Taz, they need another piece. Killer, I agree with you, but at the same time, the Bruins have been a night off team for other opponents for a few seasons now. Would the Buffalo incident have happened if Thornton was on the Bench? Not sure. I know Brad Boyes wouldn’t have had to drop his gloves to defend himself. Chara obviously isn’t willing to stand up for anyone. This adresses the toughness need, now, let’s go get a scorer eh?

Despite over 6 million of cap space the Bruins are coming out and admitting they will NOT pick up a big name free agent. The cap is now at 50+ million and the Bruins will not max out this season. This is another example of the brutal ownership we have. How are the Rangers affording all these guys under the cap? GO PENS!!!!!!

Sheldon Souray could be had for 6 million. I think he’d look fantastic in ther black and gold.

The posts are disappearing boys. It’s nothing personal. I will ask Dave about it. Tweener, up for an Albany trip?

The barn in Albany will see my shadow in ’07-’08, with my boy, Gillies, in the house.

It’s been a long time since the barn has seen your shadow.
